The Ministry of Water Resources has initiated Level IV emergency response for flood prevention in five provinces and cities.

On the morning of August 9, the Ministry of Water Resources organized a consultation to further arrange and deploy flood prevention work in response to heavy rain and flooding. At 12pm on the 9th, the Ministry of Water Resources initiated a Level IV emergency response for flood prevention in the provinces of Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, and Shaanxi, while maintaining a Level IV emergency response for Anhui and Gansu provinces. It was requested that the relevant water resources departments and related river basin management agencies in these areas tighten their flood prevention responsibilities, strengthen emergency duty shifts, conduct continuous monitoring and forecasting of rainwater, timely release warning information, scientifically manage and schedule water engineering, implement safety measures for reservoirs and construction projects, prevent and respond to localized flooding, focus on preventing floods in small and medium-sized rivers and mountainous areas, evacuate residents in dangerous areas in advance to ensure their safety.
