Closing of Japanese and South Korean stock markets

The Nikkei 225 index closed up 245.32 points, an increase of 0.60%, at 40,794.86 points; the TOPIX index closed up 1.03% at 2,966.84 points. The South Korean KOSPI closed flat at 3,198.14 points.
