Today, the official website of China National Nuclear Corporation Fourth Company (CNNC Fourth Company) announced that a kick-off meeting for a newly approved project under the National Magnetic Confinement Fusion Energy Development Research Special Project 2024 was held at CNNC Fourth Company. Wang Yan, Director of the China International Fusion Energy Program Execution Center, emphasized that fusion energy, as a new type of energy source with abundant fuel, low carbon emissions, and high efficiency, is receiving high attention from the Party and the country. Currently, the international development of fusion energy is entering a period of accelerated transition from scientific research to engineering. The 2024 newly approved project carries the important mission of breaking through key core technologies and improving the independent innovation system, and it is a crucial part of China's nuclear energy "three-step" development strategy.
