The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Monday that it will end its preliminary investigation into engine malfunctions in 454,840 Nissan vehicles, following a recall issued by the automaker in June. The investigation, which began in December 2023, alleged that certain Nissan models were experiencing engine malfunctions leading to power loss issues, with consumers also reporting engine knocking noises. The US automotive safety regulator stated that if internal engine components detach and damage the cylinder body, it could lead to the oil coming into contact with hot surfaces and causing a fire.
