A 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters near the province of North Sumatra in Indonesia.
According to a report released by the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, at 7:11 on July 12th local time, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea area 297 kilometers southwest of South Nias Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The epicenter was located at 1.62 degrees south latitude and 96.28 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 61 kilometers. It is not expected to pose a tsunami risk.
