As the Trump administration threatens further tariffs to stimulate the US manufacturing industry, TSMC has begun construction of its third semiconductor factory in Arizona, increasing its expansion efforts in the United States. On the same day as US Secretary of Commerce Lutnick visited the TSMC site, TSMC announced its third phase expansion plan in the United States. TSMC is a major chip manufacturer for Apple and NVIDIA, and is a key player in the US government's efforts to attract manufacturing back to the country. In March of this year, TSMC Chairman and CEO Wei Zhejia announced a plan to invest an additional $100 billion in US factories at the White House alongside President Trump.
