Microsoft CEO Nadella: 30% of the company's code is written by AI.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said on Tuesday that currently up to 30% of the code in the company's codebase is generated by artificial intelligence. "I estimate that about 20% to 30% of the project code in our code repository could be completely written by software automatically," Nadella revealed in a public conversation with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The two tech giants' leaders had this exchange at the first LlamaCon artificial intelligence developer conference hosted by Meta in Menlo Park, California. Nadella added that the proportion of Microsoft's code generated by AI is continuously increasing.
When Nadella asked Zuckerberg for related data, the Meta CEO said he couldn't give an exact number off the top of his head, but revealed that the company is developing an AI system that can autonomously build the next generation of Llama series AI models. "We predict that in the next year... perhaps half of the development work will be done by AI instead of humans, and after that, this proportion will continue to expand," Zuckerberg explained.
