National Bureau of Statistics: There are multiple factors driving the reasonable increase in CPI.
On September 15th, Fu Linghui, the spokesperson, chief economist, and director of the National Bureau of Statistics' Comprehensive Statistics Department, stated at a press conference that there are multiple factors driving the reasonable increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) based on the recent situation. The first is the expansion of consumer demand. With the cooler weather, there will be an increase in food consumption. As the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day approach, holiday spending will also increase, which will help drive up the CPI. Second, with the change of seasons, there will be new arrivals of clothing, and prices may remain stable or even rise. After the start of the new school year, there is also an increase in demand for educational services. Third, recent efforts to regulate disorderly competition among enterprises have led to positive changes in production prices in related industries, which in turn benefits the increase in the CPI. However, Fu Linghui also pointed out that while the overall supply in the domestic market is sufficient, fluctuations in international energy market prices may impact domestic prices, creating uncertainty in the input effect on the CPI. Therefore, the trend of the CPI still needs to be closely monitored.
