The proportion of non-fossil energy in national energy consumption is expected to exceed the target of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
At the series of press conferences on "high-quality completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan" held by the State Council Information Office today, relevant officials from the National Energy Administration stated: The 14th Five-Year Plan is the fastest period for green and low-carbon transformation. China has built the world's largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system, with the proportion of renewable energy generation capacity increasing from 40% to around 60%. Wang Hongzhi, member of the Party group of the National Development and Reform Commission and director of the National Energy Administration, stated that energy consumption is "moving towards green", with one out of every three kilowatt-hours in national electricity consumption being green energy. In the national energy consumption, the proportion of non-fossil energy increases by 1 percentage point each year, exceeding the 20% target set for the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The proportion of coal decreases by 1 percentage point each year, significantly increasing the economic development with "green content". During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's exports of wind and solar products have reduced carbon emissions by approximately 4.1 billion tons in other countries, making a significant contribution to global low-carbon transformation.
