He Xiaopeng responds to the personnel changes at Xiaopeng Motors.
The second episode of Luo Yonghao's "Crossroads" video podcast was released today, with He Xiaopeng telling the story of his entrepreneurial journey from financial freedom to endless hell mode. In the podcast, Luo Yonghao and He Xiaopeng discussed the major personnel changes at Xiaopeng Motors last year. At that time, He Xiaopeng decided to personally oversee all frontline operations, replacing more than a dozen executives in a little over a year, without causing much public uproar. He Xiaopeng said that while being decisive, it's also important to have emotions, and that most of the people voluntarily retired, overall still maintaining a friendly atmosphere. He Xiaopeng also mentioned that the company faced significant challenges at the time, and making such a major adjustment when the company was doing exceptionally well didn't make sense, but when the company was struggling, a firm decision might be more appropriate, as it provided an opportunity for negotiation. "Our growth in the first half of this year was 200%, which means how bad it was in the first half of last year. So from a different perspective, when nearly 90% of the frontline departments have been changed, it's quite painful." He Xiaopeng also mentioned that there was a significant loss in the second quarter of 2024, with only a few thousand cars sold per month. He had numerous meals with key people, discussing that things would improve in the fourth quarter of 2024. Eventually, about 30% of the people he had meals with left.
