The United States aims to combat Mexican drug trafficking groups. Pompeo: Sovereignty is not to be violated.
On August 22 local time, Mexican President Lpez Obrador reiterated that Mexico is a free, independent, and sovereign country, and does not allow any interference. He stated that no foreign government can violate its national sovereignty, in response to the recent claims by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of supporting the fight against Mexican drug trafficking groups. The director of the DEA announced on August 21 that the agency will fully support President Trump's decision to combat Mexican drug cartels. In response, Lpez Obrador emphasized that such a situation will not be allowed to happen. Mexico has a national strength that comes from the people, the will represented by an elected government, and the support of the international community. Faced with any attempt, Mexico will stand firm as the national anthem sings, "Every citizen is a warrior".
