Bolivia will hold a second round of presidential elections.
On August 17 local time, according to the preliminary official results of the Bolivian presidential election, no candidate won in the first round, and the country will hold a second round presidential election. Bolivia held a new presidential and parliamentary election on the 17th. Nearly 7.94 million voters throughout Bolivia will vote for a new president, as well as a vice president, 36 senators, 130 deputies, and 9 representatives of the multinational parliamentary institution. According to the Bolivian constitution, candidates participating in the presidential election must receive more than 50% of the votes, or receive over 40% of the votes and have a lead of at least 10 percentage points over the second place candidate in order to win. Otherwise, the top two candidates with the most votes will participate in the second round of the election.
