Due to the failure of Air Canada and the union representing flight attendants to reach an agreement on time, over 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants began a strike on the 16th. According to the union, the strike will last for 72 hours. Air Canada announced that all flights operated by Air Canada and its low-cost subsidiary, Rouge, have been temporarily suspended due to the strike by the flight attendants. However, two regional carriers owned by Air Canada are still operating. Air Canada estimates that during the strike and flight suspension, 130,000 passengers will be affected each day. The strike by Air Canada flight attendants, involving 10,000 employees, is mainly due to dissatisfaction with the airline's salary and compensation calculation methods for flight attendants.
