8,792 meters long! China's first railway tunnel crossing the Helan Mountains has been completed.
On August 16th, China's first railway tunnel crossing the Helan Mountains, the Helan Mountain Tunnel of the Baoyin High-speed Railway Yiban Branch, successfully achieved full tunneling. The newly completed Helan Mountain Tunnel is 8792 meters long, located at the junction of Alashan Left Banner in Inner Mongolia and Yinchuan in Ningxia in the Tengger Desert and Yellow River Basin. It also passes through the Shadongqing Nature Reserve and the Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve, which are ecologically sensitive and vulnerable areas, making it a level 1 high-risk tunnel.
