Record-breaking ocean heatwaves have led to severe coral bleaching in Western Australia.

The Australian Institute of Marine Science released a news bulletin on the 12th stating that the marine heatwave from 2024 to 2025 is the longest, most widespread, and most intense on record in Western Australia, leading to the largest recorded coral bleaching event in the state.
