Another exclusive self-defense insurance company lands in Hong Kong.

Recently, the Hong Kong Insurance Authority issued authorization to Shanghai Automotive Group Insurance Co., Ltd., a dedicated captive insurance company established by Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd. The Executive Director of the Hong Kong Insurance Authority, Mr. Zhang Yun, stated that this is the second time a company of this kind has been authorized in 2025. The Hong Kong Insurance Authority has developed a strategy focusing on the changing risk management needs of Mainland state-owned and private enterprises, as well as local multinational corporations. At the same time, they are studying the incorporation of additional dedicated captive insurance companies and the feasibility of expanding the scope of risk coverage to enhance Hong Kong's global competitiveness.
