The former Prime Minister of Chad, Mahamat Masra, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The Chad Criminal Court sentenced former Prime Minister Souleymane Sosseh Masra to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of 1 billion Central African Francs on September 9. The court determined that Masra incited violence between ethnic groups, and should be held responsible for the violent clashes in Mandaka-Ou town, Sila Province, Chad on May 14th of this year. The prosecutor stated that a total of 42 people died in that conflict, most of whom were women and children.
