Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and six other departments: Research and develop implanted electrodes for different areas such as the epidural, subdural, and intracortical regions in the brain.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and six other departments have issued the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Innovative Development of Brain-Computer Interface Industry". The "Opinions" require the development of implantable electrodes targeting different areas such as on the dura mater, under the dura mater, and inside the cerebral cortex. It also calls for the exploration of brain vascular intervention electrodes, strengthening the stability and reliability of materials, developing specialized preparation and packaging processes, improving the number of electrode channels, biological compatibility, spatial resolution, and signal-to-noise ratio.
It emphasizes the acceleration of research and development of non-implantable electrodes that are highly available and adaptively adjustable, the development of new electrode materials with low impedance and thin dielectric material to enhance the convenience, comfort, and usability of electrodes. Furthermore, the innovation of new brain signal sensors based on light, electricity, magnetism, ultrasound, and chemistry is encouraged to break through the limitations of single-mode signals and enhance the perception of brain signals.
