Guangdong has launched a mosquito eradication campaign, and the rapid upward trend of the epidemic has been preliminarily contained.
Director of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Institute of the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Chief Expert on Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Kang Min, pointed out that dengue fever is transmitted through the bites of Aedes mosquitoes, which live in clean water. Tipping over containers and eliminating stagnant water can help control the outbreak. Therefore, the key to prevention is to clear stagnant water, eliminate mosquitoes, and prevent mosquito bites. Without stagnant water, there will be no mosquito breeding, and without mosquitoes, there will be no transmission of the disease. The current rapid increase in the epidemic situation in Guangdong Province has been preliminarily controlled, with a downward trend in the number of newly reported cases province-wide this week, especially in the core area of Shunde District where the number of reported cases has been continuously decreasing. In order to quickly stop the spread of the disease, Guangdong Province has carried out a week-long concentrated mosquito elimination operation this week.
