At a customer and investor meeting held in the San Francisco Bay Area on Saturday, Tesla's engineering executive Lars Moravei said that with multiple heavyweight products set to be released, the company is entering a "strategic breakthrough period." The vice president responsible for vehicle engineering admitted that he is most looking forward to the production of the Semi electric truck at the Gigafactory in Reno, Nevada, stating that this project carries the company's core mission. "We have always been implementing bold strategies, even though sometimes it involves significant risks," he said. "Currently, in the areas of autonomous driving, Robotaxi, Optimus humanoid robot, and the Semi project, we are all at such strategic breakthrough points." Moravei's remarks injected a dose of confidence into Tesla, which is facing severe challenges in its core automotive business. As its product line ages and leads to declining sales in major global markets, Tesla is experiencing a loss of market share - in its home base of California, sales have decreased for seven consecutive quarters.
