The number of inbound and outbound passengers at Pudong Airport this year has exceeded 20 million, an increase of 21% compared to the same period last year.

According to Shanghai immigration authorities, on July 25th, the total number of inbound and outbound passengers at Shanghai Pudong International Airport exceeded 20 million for the year 2025, an increase of 21% compared to the same period last year, ranking first among all airports in the country. Among the 20 million inbound and outbound passengers, there were over 5.6 million foreign nationals, an increase of 44% compared to the previous year. The number of foreign nationals entering China without a visa reached 1.46 million, accounting for more than half of the total number of inbound foreign nationals. The number of foreign nationals applying for the 240-hour transit visa exemption policy at immigration agencies increased by 83% compared to the same period last year when the 144-hour transit visa exemption policy was in effect.
