On July 25th local time, a plane from Southwest Airlines in the Los Angeles area of California took off from Burbank Airport and had to make an emergency descent of about 145 meters to avoid a mid-air collision with a Hawker Hunter jet fighter. The plane has safely landed in Las Vegas, with no reports of injuries to passengers, but 2 flight attendants are receiving treatment. According to US media reports, the fighter jet is owned by a British defense contractor and was flying from Texas to a naval base near Ventura County, Los Angeles. Some passengers shared their experience on social media, saying passengers were screaming and some were even thrown from their seats into the air. One passenger wrote, "This was another close call that nearly took the lives of over 150 people on board." The Federal Aviation Administration has stated that they have been in contact with Southwest Airlines regarding the incident and are conducting an investigation.
