According to the preliminary data from Counterpoint Research obtained by Zhitong Finance APP, global PC shipments in the second quarter of 2025 increased by 8.4% compared to the same period in the previous year, marking the largest year-on-year growth since the peak demand during the pandemic in 2022. The growth in the second quarter was mainly driven by the countdown to the end of service of the Windows 10 operating system, the rise of AI PCs, and early procurement due to anticipation of changes in tariff policies in order to meet the upcoming back-to-school season demand. Due to the uncertainty of U.S. tariff policies, many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are currently in a "wait-and-see" mode, and as tariff concerns continue to escalate, OEMs are adjusting their manufacturing locations. These restrictions and supply chain restructuring are expected to be major obstacles to PC shipments in 2025.
