CNOOC: Major breakthrough in deep-sea metamorphic rock exploration in the South China Sea.
On July 16th, it was learned from CNOOC that the company has made a major breakthrough in the exploration of metamorphic rocks in the deep-sea seamounts in the South China Sea. The Weizhou 10-5 South Oil and Gas Field is located in the northern part of the South China Sea, with an average water depth of 37 meters. The exploration well WZ10-5S-2d encountered oil and gas layers of 211 meters, with a total drilling depth of approximately 3362 meters. Through testing, the well produced 400 barrels of crude oil per day and 165,000 cubic feet of natural gas per day, achieving a major breakthrough in the exploration of metamorphic sandstone and shale seamounts in Chinese waters.
