Uzbekistan appoints its first ambassador to Serbia, the two countries discuss bilateral cooperation.
According to CCTV news, Oybek Shahabudinov, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Serbia in history, has presented his credentials to Serbian President Vucic. Shahabudinov also serves as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro, and is currently based in Budapest, Hungary. During the official appointment ceremony and subsequent meeting, the two sides discussed the current state and development of Uzbek-Serbian relations. Vucic positively assessed Uzbekistan's efforts to expand its diplomatic influence in Southeastern Europe and expressed willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation. Both sides acknowledged the huge potential for cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade, investment, culture, and focused on discussing cooperation projects in industries, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education, tourism, and labor migration. During the meeting, both sides expressed interest in strengthening bilateral relations, improving the legal framework, and supporting direct commercial cooperation, including in the private sector.
