Shandong accelerates the promotion of Chinese medicinal materials production, striving to keep the total area of Chinese medicinal materials planting stable at around 3.8 million mu in the whole province.

Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Shandong Province and other departments jointly introduced "Several Measures to Promote the High-quality Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Production in the Province". The "Several Measures" proposed focusing on the cultivation areas of major traditional Chinese medicinal materials such as the Lubei Mountainous area, southwestern Shandong, the Yellow River Delta, and the Jiaodong Peninsula, as well as the aquatic medicinal material cultivation areas of Nansihu and Dongping Lake. The aim is to promote the cluster development of key authentic traditional Chinese medicinal material varieties in Shandong Province, such as honeysuckle, ginseng, danshen (salvia miltiorrhiza), hawthorn, etc., steadily expand the planting scale of key authentic traditional Chinese medicinal material varieties such as "Lu Ten Flavor", and strive to keep the planting area of traditional Chinese medicinal materials in the province stable at around 3.8 million mu. At the same time, the potential of salt-alkali land for traditional Chinese medicinal material production will be further explored, and efforts will be made to accelerate the introduction, selection, and demonstration of salt-alkali resistant traditional Chinese medicinal material varieties, and to vigorously develop salt-alkali resistant traditional Chinese medicinal materials such as sour jujube kernel, motherwort, dandelion, cuscuta chinensis, and isatis root.
