A wildfire occurred on the Greek island of Crete, around 5000 tourists were evacuated.
A serious wildfire broke out in a forest in the southeast part of Crete, Greece on July 2nd. On the 3rd, residents of four more villages were asked to evacuate immediately. The fire department said that the fire in the area has not been effectively controlled and firefighters are still working to extinguish it. Currently, around 5000 tourists in the area have been moved to safety. It is reported that the Greek Civil Defense Department has sent additional firefighting forces to support the operation.
