The Hong Kong Official Receiver's Office announced that there were a total of 949 bankruptcy petitions filed in May, representing a 17.02% increase from the previous month and an 8.96% increase from the same period last year. There were 712 court orders issued for bankruptcy or winding-up, which is a decrease of 24.34% from the previous month but an increase of 14.1% from the same period last year. In the previous month, there were 70 compulsory winding-up petitions filed, an increase of 9 cases from both the previous month and the same period last year. The court issued 38 winding-up orders, a decrease of 28 cases from the previous month and a decrease of 5 cases from the same period last year.
