Xi Jinping arrives in Astana to attend the Second China-Central Asia Summit.
On June 16th, local time, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Astana by special aircraft to attend the Second China-Central Asia Cooperation Forum at the invitation of President Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
After entering Kazakh airspace, the aircraft carrying Xi Jinping was escorted by Kazakh Air Force fighter jets.
Upon arrival at the Astana Nazarbayev International Airport, President Tokayev, along with Director of the Presidential Office Daiebay, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nurtileu, Presidential Foreign Affairs Advisor Kazihan, and Astana Mayor Kassetbek, warmly welcomed Xi Jinping. Kazakh women dressed in traditional clothing presented flowers to Xi Jinping. Honor guards lined both sides of the blue carpet to pay respects, while Kazakh children held Chinese and Kazakh flags, warmly welcoming Xi Jinping's visit. Accompanied by Tokayev, Xi Jinping watched the parade formation, with helicopters flying overhead displaying the flags of China and Kazakhstan. Inside the VIP lounge at the airport, the two leaders also enjoyed a cultural performance by Kazakh children.
Accompanying personnel such as Cai Qi and Wang Yi also arrived on the same flight.
Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Hanlin was also present at the airport to welcome Xi Jinping.
On the way from the airport to the hotel, Chinese companies and representatives of Chinese students gathered on both sides of the road, holding red banners saying "Warmly welcome President Xi Jinping!" and "Long live China-Kazakhstan friendship!" to warmly welcome Xi Jinping's visit.
