Professor Wang Shuo of the School of International Relations at Beijing Foreign Studies University stated that the occurrence of "talking while fighting" in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is not contradictory. On the one hand, both sides of the talks have real needs. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for more than three years, with heavy casualties on both sides, and high international attention and frequent intervention have made both Russia and Ukraine consider international pressure. Through talks, both sides can demonstrate their willingness to solve problems peacefully, avoid international condemnation and isolation. The focus of the second round of negotiations is on specific and easily agreeable issues such as prisoner exchanges and body exchanges, which are urgent issues for both sides and can alleviate some humanitarian pressure. At the same time, reaching agreement on non-core issues can maintain the atmosphere and process of negotiations, avoid complete breakdown of talks, and lay the foundation for more extensive negotiations in the future.
