On May 23, local time, US President Trump said that if Apple's phones sold in the United States are made abroad, they should face at least a 25% tariff. US Treasury Secretary Besen also said in an interview that day that President Trump's intention was to bring back the precision manufacturing industry to the United States by leveraging Apple's relocation of the supply chain. In response, some American experts have expressed that it is "unrealistic like a fairy tale" to bring production of Apple's phones back to the United States, as Apple would incur high costs and its product prices would skyrocket. Apple phones produced in the United States would be sold for $3,500, approximately 25,100 RMB. Compared to the huge cost of relocating production lines back to the United States, Apple would prefer to increase its investment in the field of artificial intelligence.
