Data released by the University of Michigan in the United States shows that in May, the preliminary Consumer Confidence Index was only 50.8, lower than the final value of 52.2 in April, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline. The Consumer Confidence Index in May is also the second lowest value on record in the United States. Previously, the Consumer Confidence Index in the United States reached a historical low of 50 in June 2022, when soaring inflation exacerbated people's concerns about an economic recession.
