The pre-flood season in southern China is here, and Guangxi will soon enter a period of heavy rain.
Currently, the pre-flood season in southern China has arrived. After experiencing consecutive droughts in the autumn, winter, and spring, Guangxi may be entering a period of heavy rainfall. In May, frequent rain showers have effectively alleviated the drought situation, with the average temperature in Guangxi dropping by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius compared to before. It is understood that this year's pre-flood season in southern China started on April 25, which is 15 days later than usual, but this does not mean that there will be less rainfall. With the strengthening of warm and humid air streams and confrontation with cold air moving southwards, there is a higher likelihood of heavy rainfall. The concentrated rainfall will have a positive impact as it will gradually relieve the meteorological drought in Guangxi by late May, but the rapid change from drought to flood may trigger flash floods and geological disasters. The Autonomous Region Flood Control Office and Emergency Management Department will strengthen monitoring, forecasting, early warning, scientific scheduling of water conservancy projects, dynamic identification of hidden risks, and ensure effective prevention and response measures.
