The U.S.-Ukraine mining agreement has just been signed with the U.S. side's profit methods beginning to emerge.
The US State Department announced on the 2nd that it has approved the sale of F-16 fighter jet spare parts and related support services such as training and maintenance to Ukraine. According to US media reports, the total cost of this deal is $3.105 billion, which will be invested by the US side and counted as part of the mineral development fund planned to be established by the US and Ukraine under the mineral agreement.
Experts believe that with the disclosure of the relevant transactions between the US and Ukraine on the F-16 fighter jets, the substance of the mineral agreement between the two sides is gradually becoming clear.
Cui Hongjian, a professor at the Institute of Regional and Global Governance at Beijing Foreign Studies University, said that under the current mineral agreement, Ukraine has a more specific or practical demand than before to obtain so-called security guarantees from the US, which is to exchange the potential benefits that the mineral agreement may bring to the US for US weapons, including weapons such as the F-16 fighter jet. In other words, the US is trading future benefits for current realities, and this situation is very clear now and is currently in the implementation stage. As for whether the transactions between the US and Ukraine can eventually be realized, and what problems need to be overcome during the execution process, especially how Russia will react, all of these factors may still affect the specific cooperation details between the so-called "mineral agreement and US military weapon sales" between the US and Ukraine in the future.
