First-tier cities start offering school spots when buying a house.
After announcing the purchase of a house for a degree on January 10th of this year, Nansha District in Guangzhou officially fulfilled this commitment with a notice issued on April 28th. This is the first area in current first-tier cities to implement the policy of buying a house for a degree. The notice explicitly states that eligible children, parents of minors or other legal guardians who purchase new residential properties in Nansha District from January 10th, 2025 onwards, and meet the criteria of owning 100% equity in the property or jointly owning it with their children; as well as parents or other legal guardians and children who do not own any property in this city, but the grandparents of eligible children or minors who purchase new residential properties in Nansha District from January 10th, 2025 onwards, and also meet the criteria of grandparents owning 100% equity in the property, living together with the grandparents in the same household for more than three years, can apply for admission to a public school in Nansha District from the beginning of compulsory education.
