Spot gold rose by 0.8%, and stocks in the gold and silver mining industry generally closed higher.
On Monday in the New York session, spot gold rose by 0.81% to $3346.65 per ounce. Most of the day's trading took place below $3300, but at 20:00 Beijing time, a "relatively significant" upward trend began. COMEX gold futures rose by 1.83%, to $3358.90 per ounce. Throughout the day, most of the trading was around $3300, showing a U-shaped trend. The Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index closed up by 0.95% at 187.78 points. Among the constituent stocks, Anglo Ashanti Gold Corporation rose by 4.14%, SSR Mining rose by 3.71%, and Kinross Gold rose by 2.48%, performing the third best. Among the four constituent stocks that fell, Freeport-McMoRan fell by 0.29%, New Gold fell by 0.59%, Buenaventura Mining fell by 1.3%, and Newmont Goldcorp fell by 2.03%.
