Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the China Passenger Car Association, stated in a document that the import volume of imported cars in China has been continuously decreasing at an average annual rate of about 8% since 2017, with only 80,000 units expected by 2023. In 2024, car imports will reach 700,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 12%. From January to March 2025, 95,000 imported cars were imported, a 39% decrease compared to the previous year, which is a rare significant decline in recent months. Among them, 39,000 imported cars were imported in March, a 27% decrease, showing a slight improvement in the decline.
