US Media: Iranian Speaker Threatens to Cut Off Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz
According to the website of the American National Broadcasting Company news channel on April 3, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, seems to have threatened to disrupt the commercial shipping traffic in the vital Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, Qalibaf posted on the social media platform X: "How many shares of global oil, liquefied natural gas, wheat, rice, and fertilizer transportation must pass through the Strait of Hormuz?" He then wrote: "Which countries and companies have the highest share of goods in the shipping volume through that strait?" In recent years, ships passing through that region have been repeatedly attacked by the Houthi armed group in Yemen allied with the Iranian regime.
