The State Council Information Office: Beijing's Pingyuan New Town's economic scale reaches 1 trillion yuan

The State Council Information Office held a press conference this morning to introduce the situation of the "Spatial Coordination Plan for the Modern Capital Urban Agglomeration" and answer questions from reporters. The relevant person in charge of Beijing city introduced that Beijing Pingyuan New City is an important node for regional coordination and functional layout in building the modern capital urban agglomeration. Currently, the economic total of Beijing Pingyuan New City has reached a scale of trillions of yuan, with the proportion of permanent residents accounting for over 30% of the city, and has formed several cross-border clusters with surrounding areas, with a solid foundation for development. By 2035, the region will have approximately 500,000 permanent residents, 70 square kilometers of urban and rural construction land, and an incremental space of 200 million square meters of buildings. With tremendous development potential, it will be an important carrier for relieving the central urban area, accommodating suitable functions, and serving the cross-border commuters. By 2025, Beijing city will introduce five high-quality development implementation plans for Pingyuan New City, including Shunyi, Daxing, Yizhuang, Changping, and Fangshan areas, outlining a clearer positioning for the development of Pingyuan New City. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Beijing will continuously enhance the comprehensive carrying capacity of Pingyuan New City through six main aspects of work: first, focusing on building the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei International Science and Technology Innovation Center, continuously promoting the construction of over 50 national key laboratories, and accelerating the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements. Secondly, fully leveraging the driving force of Beijing's new generation information technology, pharmaceuticals and health, and technology service industries with trillion-dollar clusters, linking with Tianjin Wuqing, Hebei Langfang, Zhuozhou, and Laishui, and continuously enhancing the development level of regional industrial clusters. Third, continuously improving the comprehensive transportation network and ensuring the connectivity of cross-border transportation. Fourth, focusing on the construction of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Beautiful China Leading Area, accelerating the construction of suburban park circles, and creating more green and vibrant spaces. Fifth, continuously meeting the requirements of people's livelihoods, building more good houses, and accelerating the layout of high-quality education, medical care, elderly care, and childcare public service resources. Sixth, focusing on enhancing the resilience of cross-regional disaster risk response and the ability to ensure the connectivity of cross-regional lifelines, and jointly strengthening the response to flood and other natural disaster risks. Through these measures, Pingyuan New City will be developed into a preferred location for investment, employment, entrepreneurship, and livable life.
