The Cyberspace Administration, in conjunction with relevant departments, has lawfully dealt with a batch of fake and counterfeit accounts, urged key platforms to strengthen account verification, ensure smooth reporting channels, conduct thorough self-inspections and corrections, and has disposed of a total of 3008 rule-violating accounts.
Recently, some online accounts have impersonated and counterfeited news media, government agencies, and enterprises as "XX News", "XX Recommended for Cultural and Tourism", "XX Official Live Broadcast Room", engaging in false advertising and selling fake goods, disrupting social order. The Network Information Office, together with relevant departments, has taken legal actions against a group of counterfeit accounts, urging key platforms to strengthen account verification, provide smooth channels for reporting, conduct thorough self-inspections, and have so far dealt with 3008 violating accounts. The following are some typical cases reported: 1. Accounts such as "Dynamic News" and "Shanghai Noon Daily" impersonated the names and logos of news media, violating regulations by providing internet news information services and disrupting online communication order. The involved accounts have been closed by law. 2. Accounts like "Anhui Province Educational Examination Admission Institute" impersonated the official name of educational enrollment departments, engaging in illegal activities related to training, consultation, and severely disrupting the order of enrollment exams. The involved accounts have been closed by law. 3. Accounts like "Rizhao Cultural and Tourism Recommended Officer" were not authorized by relevant cultural and tourism administrative departments, impersonating local official cultural and tourism certification accounts, misleading the public. The involved accounts have been sanctioned by law with restrictions on speech, profit suspension, and closure. 4. Accounts like "Post Selection" contained elements of "post" in their name, avatar, introduction, and background image, exploiting the "China Post" brand and postal agency's credibility, influence, and authority without authorization to attract traffic and conduct transactions, harming consumers' legitimate rights and interests, and disrupting the online ecosystem. The involved accounts have been sanctioned by law with restrictions on speech, profit suspension, and closure. Next, the Network Information Office will continue to strengthen the responsibility of website platforms, urging strict compliance with the regulations on the management of internet user account information and the notice on strengthening the management of "self-media", continuously cracking down on counterfeit "self-media" accounts, intensifying internet law enforcement, and striving to create a positive online environment. At the same time, the Network Information Office will maintain a high-pressure crackdown stance, welcoming active participation from the public in supervision and reporting, jointly creating a clean online space.
