The Fujian Ship creates the world's first "conventional power + electromagnetic catapult"
From the Liaoning aircraft carrier to the Shandong aircraft carrier, and now to the upcoming Fujian aircraft carrier, China's aircraft carriers have completed the leap from ski-jump takeoff to electromagnetic catapult in just over a decade. The technological breakthrough of the Fujian aircraft carrier not only marks China's aircraft carriers entering the forefront of the world, but also creates a global precedent for conventional-powered aircraft carriers to carry electromagnetic catapult systems. Military expert Cao Weidong introduced that because the Fujian aircraft carrier is a large 80,000-ton aircraft carrier, and uses electromagnetic catapults, and is equipped with a large amount of automated, informatized weapon systems, its power consumption is extremely high. The Fujian aircraft carrier is a conventional-powered aircraft carrier. In the design process, it is necessary to ensure the electrical power for various departments and equipment, and properly distribute this power, so the design concept is much more complex than that of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
