Baidu is seeking to expand its autonomous taxi business to new markets, including Australia. Its growing fleet has already reached profitability in several cities in China. Niu Haotian, the General Manager of Baidu's international intelligent driving business, stated in a media interview that Luobo Kuai Pao is in talks with the governments of Australia and some regions in Southeast Asia to introduce autonomous taxis to the local market. Earlier this week, Luobo Kuai Pao, under Baidu, received 50 autonomous driving test licenses from the Dubai authorities, doubling its fleet size in the UAE to about 100 vehicles. "In the Middle East and Europe, we are in communication with several local governments. So far, we have only deployed in a few cities there," Niu Haotian said. "In addition, we are also in talks with the governments of Southeast Asia and Australia."
