State Council Information Office press conference: In 2024, the number of deaths in national production safety accidents dropped below 20,000 for the first time, and the number of major accidents decreased to single digits for the first time, a decrease of 28.4% and 43.8% respectively compared to the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan". In terms of natural disasters, the main performance is "three decreases", that is, the average number of people affected by disasters, the number of deaths and missing persons due to disasters, and the proportion of direct economic losses due to disasters to GDP from 2021 to 2024 all decreased by 31.3%, 23% and 34.3%, respectively, compared to the "13th Five-Year Plan" period.
