According to sources, Erdogan hopes to offset the payments for the American planes with local production agreements worth over $10 billion. These agreements would require approval from President Donald Trump. The sources requested anonymity because these plans are considered confidential. The meeting is crucial for Ankara, as the country is trying to repair tense relations and other disputes caused by the purchase of Russian missile defense systems. The Turkish Ministry of Defense declined to comment.
