According to a statement on Monday, Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways have announced an agreement. Uzbekistan Airways will purchase up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, marking the largest order in the airline's history. This is the first in a series of expected deals to be announced as world leaders gather in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. Boeing, the largest exporter in the United States, holds a key position in trade negotiations aimed at pleasing President Donald Trump, as countries like Turkey prepare for major deals. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and leaders of both companies announced the deal together in New York. The statement also mentioned that Boeing has signed an agreement with the country's Minister of Transport to explore ways to expand the country's "aviation ecosystem". Uzbekistan is the first Central Asian country to operate Boeing's iconic wide-body aircraft, buying 14 Dreamliners with an option to purchase an additional 8. The airline plans to use these aircraft to expand its international routes, including flights to the United States.
