Uzbekistan joins Boeing trade frenzy, will purchase up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
According to a statement on Monday, Boeing and Uzbekistan Airways announced an agreement in which Uzbekistan Airways will purchase up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking the largest order in the history of the airline. This is the first in a series of expected deals to be announced as world leaders gather in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. As the largest exporter in the United States, Boeing's aircraft orders play a significant role in trade negotiations aimed at pleasing President Donald Trump, with countries like Turkey preparing for large deals. Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and leaders of both companies announced the deal in New York. The statement also mentioned that Boeing signed an agreement with the country's Minister of Transport to explore ways to expand the country's "aviation ecosystem." Uzbekistan is the first Central Asian country to operate Boeing's iconic wide-body aircraft, purchasing 14 Dreamliners with an option to buy an additional 8. The airline plans to use these aircraft to expand its international routes, including flights to the United States.
