From pilot exploration to comprehensive promotion, the construction of China's spot electricity market has entered a critical stage. The latest data shows that as of August this year, seven provincial spot markets in Shanxi, Guangdong, Shandong, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Hubei, and Zhejiang have officially entered into operation; six provincial and southern regional spot markets such as Jiangsu and Shaanxi have started continuous settlement trials; interprovincial spot markets are synchronously in operation, with the framework of "unified market, two-tier operation" basically taking shape. The guiding role of the spot market in the consumption of new energy has begun to show. In the first eight months of this year, the transaction volume of new energy in interprovincial spot markets reached 77.5 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 36.5%; the capacity of thermal power plants to reduce output in the continuous operation areas of the spot market increased by 9 percentage points, providing more space for the consumption of wind and solar energy.
