Today it was reported that General Motors is in preliminary discussions with SAIC Motor Group in China to renew their long-term joint venture agreement. Both sides are discussing the details of the potential agreement, and the final terms have not yet been determined. When asked, neither SAIC nor SAIC-GM provided a response. The joint venture agreement between SAIC and General Motors will officially expire in June 2027. Earlier this year, when asked about when the contract will be renewed, SAIC-GM General Manager Lu Xiao stated that the two major shareholders have recently been in frequent communication.
