Latest opinion poll: Over 70% of Americans agree that "American society has fractured"

After prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot in the United States, a public opinion poll targeted at American adults showed that about 63% of the participants believed that the intense way Americans discuss political topics largely contributes to political violence, and about 71% agreed with the statement that "American society is now broken". Reuters reported on the 16th that the online survey conducted by Reuters and the polling firm Ipsos Group lasted for 3 days, ending on the 14th with 1037 participants, with a margin of error of 3 percentage points. The survey revealed how the entire American society is "exhausted by partisan conflicts and deeply concerned about the increasing phenomenon of political violence". The survey found that 66% of the participants worry that someone in their community will be attacked for their political beliefs. Additionally, 79% of the participants believed that in the past 20 years, Americans have become less tolerant of different viewpoints.
