The US government plans to establish an overseas mining project fund with Orion.

The US government is currently in talks with the investment company Orion Resource Partners to establish a several billion dollar overseas mining project fund. According to sources, the US International Development Finance Corporation and Orion, based in New York, will each invest $600 million or more into the new fund, with potential other sovereign investors and US government agencies also possibly participating. The fund will invest in mining projects for key minerals such as copper and rare earths, which are crucial for national defense and high-tech manufacturing.
